Honors for Model U.N. Delegation

For only the second time in club history, the McDonogh delegation brought home honors from the annual, four-day international affairs conference for high school students:

  • David F. '07 won a Verbal Commendation for his work representing Finland in the International Monetary Fund;
  • Christopher F. '07 won Best Position Paper for his work representing the commander-in-chief of the United States Air Force on a Joint Committee Crisis surrounding the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan;
  • Michael S. '08 won Best Delegate for Press Corps; and
  • Molly F.'07 won Best Delegate for representing the United States on the Latin American Council.

    The 12-member delegation was well prepared for the challenges of CMUNCE, which divided participants into committees for simulated United Nations debates. On their own, delegates researched and submitted position papers for committee assignments. They represented the interests of Panama, Nigeria, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the U.S.

    Participants included: Laura M. '08, David F. '07, Chris F. '07, Michael S. '08, Molly F. '07, Natalie F. '09, Maria F. '08, Tara K. '08, Sheila R. '08, Lindsay E. '08, Bianca D. '09, and Josh H. '10.
