We Want to Help! More Than $11,000 Goes to the Disaster Relief Fund

10/15 check presentation by kids to the Red Cross On Monday, October 15, McDonogh students and staff members presented an American Red Cross Maryland Chapter representative with checks totalling $11,302 for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. This was one way that the school community chose to help following the September 11 attack on America.

Students in the Lower, Middle, and Upper schools contributed money in exchange for the privilege of wearing red, white, and blue to school on September 17. Many gave much more than the suggested single dollar. The Black Awareness Club added to the total by making and selling ribbons. In addition, the Board of Trustees gave students $5,000 to donate, while faculty members wrote individual checks to the Disaster Relief Fund.

10/15 check presentation by housekeeping to the Red Cross Members of the Housekeeping Department took up a separate collection, which grew when they made and sold patriotic pins. Their contribution alone reached almost $300.
